Your mouth is important to ongoing holistic health. The healthy foods you need to live well must first pass through your mouth. You have to chew your food (at least 25 times per bite!) and in order to chew your food, your teeth and gums can’t be in pain. If your body doesn’t feel right or is in pain, you have to be able to tell your problems to a loved one or a doctor. This requires having a good set of teeth so that your speech is clear. Your mouth is very important to your longevity and quality of life. So, what can you do to keep everything in good order? We’re glad you asked!

The first thing you need to do is to schedule a dental check-up and cleaning every six months. Yes, we know. We’re dentists so of course we want you to come in every six months. Aside from the business aspect, though, is the reality that those visits are really important to your dental health. You are inspected for problem areas, your teeth get a good cleaning, and we can teach you how to do some of the other things on this list if you’re missing out on something. The second thing you need to do is to establish a routine of dental care. This requires three things: brushing, flossing, and rinsing. You should do these at least twice a day. The last thing you need to do is to eat right, including healthy vegetables, lean meats, and dairy products because they are full of calcium which are good for your teeth and bones.

These are three simple steps for good dental hygiene. Simple doesn’t mean easy and we know this. If you want to talk to a dentist about how to have great teeth, a great smile, and a healthy life, schedule an appointment with Capitol Dental today. We are here to help.
